So I ask the question, what counts as reading a book when you're an adult?
Back in elementary school, I could read a short chapter book under 100 pages and get credit for the reading contests we had.
In high school, we had backpacks full of text books and were assigned reading from each one, but never really read them cover to cover.
In college as an English major, I did have to read most of my books cover to cover. Some I enjoyed and others I labored through just so that I might be able to make a few intelligent points in class discussion.
So does it count when I read a kids book today? Obviously I wouldn't count reading a picture book. I wouldn't really count the beginning readers that we're working on with Joshua lately. But does the Tin Tin book count? What about the John Maxwell '101' books? Those are each under 100 pages and read in a few days, but decidedly geared towards adults.
What are your thoughts on when a book should count towards a reading goal?
