As I looked at the pictures I was struck by how happy all of the children looked. Some were at the beah or on playgrounds, but each and every one had smiles on their faces. What angers me most is that their families and the world have been denied their presence.
The smiles will live on in the pictures and remembrances, but what about all of the potential that those kids had? One of them could have discovered a cure for cancer or been the first person to step foot on Mars. They undoubtedly would have one day had family and children of their own.
I return to what I said earlier in the week. The victims here are not just those killed but so many more who have lost something as well as a grieving nation which I fear may have lost what little innocence we had left.
