Being up at that hour got me thinking about inspiration and when it comes to me. I have had inspiration for poems and stories come from various situations over the years and unfortunately some of them have been lost to the winds of time. Those ideas came to me when I was not in the position to do anything with them; driving in my car, in the shower, at swimming lessons with my children. Fortunately, there have been enough other times when I can actually sit down and start writing the story or sit and write the poem when the idea came to me.
2:30 in the morning is not the best nor the worst time that I've ever had to write. I was still awake this particular time and I had the luxury of being able to tap several lines out on my iPod that was next to my bed. Shakespeare didn't have that, though I’m sure he ran head first into a muse at all hours of the day.
