As I set out trying to find pictures of the Twin Towers to post today, I came across these two images and they called out to me.
Both are from the top of the observation deck on the original World Trade Center. As I looked at them, I realized that this is a view that no longer exists. It will never happen ever again. Even taking photos from the top of the new One World Trade Center upon its completion will look different.
These pictures are a part of history because they can not be replicated. For that, I am sad, but at the same time happy that things like this remain for future generations to see.
Take a moment this Patriot day and be thankful for what we have in our country today. Put your politics, your religion, your prejudices aside and be thankful for the people who continue to stand up for our freedom.
We may never be able to take these pictures again, but perhaps we can make better ones in the years to come.
