I have been absolutely terrible at keeping up with this blog over the last several months. I could offer pages upon pages of excuses and explanations. But what good with that do? All I can do now is make it up to you, my faithful reader, and press onward.
Writing is hard! It’s hard to get motivated to sit down and actually put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard). It’s hard to figure out when something is “done” and needs to be published. There is always a desire to make your writing perfect and yet there is no such thing. Publishers are fickle and contest judges are harsh. Rejection comes again and again, yet we continue to let the words pour forth from our imagination.

Writing is definitely hard work - I agree. I find that a lot of internet "flurry" gets in the way of my writing projects. My routine of writing follows a full day at the office. That means getting all of the "honey I'm home" items off of the to do list before actually writing. Then when I settle in to write, I find myself responding to e-mails, FB and other on-line projects. I am also taking an on-line writing class. Have to do that because I am still learning the craft and building my confidence as a writer. With all of that... my true writing seems to take a back seat. To my credit, over the past 2.5 months, I have written 4-5 short stories, completed task oriented work on my blog, posted writing information on my writers FB page and I manage a writers' group. So I am writing but I need to spend more writing projects for publication. Question: do you have an established goal? If not, set one. Give yourself dates to complete your projects. This actually works.
